I’m the DFID humanitarian adviser for southern Africa region, covering 11 countries. I started in July 2008, after 10 years with various NGOs in humanitarian, recovery and post-conflict work. I probably knew more about Afghanistan and Pakistan than southern Africa before starting this job, but that is changing fast now, with 3 visits to Zimbabwe already under my belt!
